New Training Lights Event - 27th January 2012

Friday 27th January was the official “Switching on” of the new training lights.  This was made possible by a legacy left by the late Mr Roland Bateman.  Roland was a lifelong supporter of the Club; he started playing for the youth before progressing into the senior team.  After his playing days he threw himself into fundraising for the Club.  He was responsible for running the 100+ club and on every international it was ’guess the score’.  For many years Roland was President and finally Patron of the Club.

The lights were “Switched on” by Mary who was presented with an engraved slate plaque donated by Mr Malcolm Gray.  The plaque has been placed on the Clubhouse wall adjacent to where Roland preferred to sit.

To mark the occasion training games were played between the U12 and U13 and the senior team and an Invitation XV.

During the evening, team photographs were taken of all 10 teams currently run by the Club.  The youth and senior team’s kit sponsors were present and the evening ended with a buffet for everyone.
